Reading task


Can be done in buddies - not big groups!


  1. Show your favourite animal - picture, common name and scientific/latin name, where it lives, what it eats, it’s predator/prey, life cycle if you can find it etc.tiger Tigers Don't Eat Humans, So Why Did This One Kill Over 400 People ...very rare they live in asia they also eat mainly daer they live up to 30. 

  1. Find the largest and smallest animal in each category - include picture, common name and scientific/latin name, where it lives, what it eats, it’s predator/prey, life cycle if you can find it etc.
    1. Sea animals/ leopard seal  second largest species of seal in the Antarctic/ sea lion very big
    2. Land animals/elephants are very big/ water bears are very tiny you can not see it with your eye.
    3. Birds/Royal albatross very big bigger a baby/rifleman Smallest New Zealand bird.
    4. Insects/giant weta are very big/garden weta smaller than the giant weta.

Find 10 animals/birds/fish/insects that are native to NZ and are now extinct. You might not be able to find that much information, but try to get at least their name, a picture if you can, and what year they were classified as extinct. waterfowl, rails and moa: New Zealand quail, Waitaha penguin, Scarlett's shearwater, New Zealand little bittern, Eyles' harrier, Haast's eagle, North Island adzebill, South Island adzebill, North Island snipe, South Island snipe, Forbes' snipe, Chatham Island
